In this version, the protagonist embraces a modern appearance: instead of the traditional turban, she wears a headband, and her face is enhanced with makeup. The colours of the painting diverge from tradition, fully exploring the possibilities of digital painting and vibrant, full-colour techniques. Perla gazes at us, and within the reflection of her earring, the image of Vermeer’s girl appears. It is as if, by observing us, she glimpses her former self, recognising us as witnesses to an eternal beauty that transcends time.
