Sedia da Conversazione
Sedia da Conversazione was commissioned by De Twee Pauwen, a private art gallery located in the heart of The Hague, at Oranjestraat 1. It was specifically conceived for the gallery’s upstairs room, which now bears the same name, “Conversational Room”. With this intervention, the space has been reimagined as a setting for reflection and dialogue, where guests are invited to pause, observe, and engage with the carefully curated artworks.
The chair is more than a sculptural presence, it is a spatial essay, an exploration of proximity and shared experience. Designed as a dual seat without visible separation, Sedia da Conversazione allows two people to sit side by side while facing different directions. One may look one way, the other another, yet a sense of connection remains between them. This quiet dialogue is deepened by the integrated bookshelf beneath the seat, equally significant in its role. Visitors are then encouraged to browse the selected publications, reflect on the surrounding pieces, or simply converse, creating a gentle moment of exchange within the gallery’s refined atmosphere.
Crafted with precision and designed with care, Sedia da Conversazione blurs the boundary between furniture and art installation, and is capable of enhancing an entire space through its presence alone. It stands as an invitation to sit, observe, and connect, and no better place than this prestigious art gallery could have expressed its full potential.
