DESIGNER HOUSE

This project transforms a plain Dutch apartment in the historic heart of Delft into a home full of charm, character, and personality. Every element in the Designer House has been selected to tell a story shaped by contrast, craftsmanship, and refined design. The result is a home designed to be felt as much as seen, where every detail contributes to a thoughtful and lived narrative.

The entrance sets the tone with a Liberty-style lamp paired with a sleek modern mirror, introducing the dialogue between tradition and minimalism that defines the space. In the kitchen, two Nordic-style chairs in wood and leather, one black and one white, frame a Dutch-designed table crafted from glass, wicker, and aluminium. Together with a solid antique cabinet and a wrought iron wine holder, these elements strike a balance between heritage and modernity, simplicity and richness.
A cherry wood sideboard lines the living room wall, displaying a curated mix of vintage objects, handmade artefacts, and contemporary pieces. This layered composition becomes a tactile narrative, turning the wall into a living memoryscape. Opposite, a refined fabric sofa offers comfort with industrial accents. Behind it, a small room serves as a walk-in wardrobe, discreetly concealed behind a bold yellow curtain that complements the deep blue drape at the window. These colours echo Perla, ARCh’s reinterpretation of The Girl with a Pearl Earring, which anchors the space with artistic presence and quiet emotion. Nearby, a Barcelona pouffe by Mies van der Rohe brings sculptural elegance and practical function.
The bedroom introduces a Mediterranean spirit with wicker lighting, rattan bedside tables, dried flowers, and a vintage chair in wood and cane. The grey fabric bed recalls Italian textile tradition and understated craftsmanship. On one side stands a bold contemporary lamp. At the centre, four hand-painted Vietri tiles bring vibrancy and Italian flair. On the other side, a Corinthian column reimagined as a lamp pays tribute to classical form. The mismatched rattan tables tie these elements together, maintaining balance and material harmony. Also in the bedroom is Azzurra, a painting from our collection that feels like a window to sea and sky, a gateway to serenity, evoking a distant Mediterranean horizon. The space captures the calm of a coastal retreat, where design and memory converge, offering a room in which both body and spirit can rest.
The bathroom completes the journey with a sauna-inspired atmosphere. Wood and iron create warmth and structure, while a Delft blue ceramic basin, nearly a century old, connects the space to local tradition.
